To work in partnership with Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego and to support its mission through: advocating for the health and well-being of children, increasing community awareness of Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego, and fundraising.

The Rancho Santa Fe Unit of Rady Children's Hospital Auxiliary originated in 1960 as the San Dieguito Unit. Its 35 charter members hailed from the large unincorporated San Dieguito area north and east of Del Mar and west of Escondido. For approximately 15 years, the Unit functioned and prospered, raising funds for the hospital through the sale of crafts at the Auxiliary's Annual Craft Fair.
In the mid to late Seventies, the Unit's main fund-raiser was a horse show held at the Rancho Santa Fe Riding Club. Following the horse shows came the "Concert on the Green," a family event with musical entertainment, food and fireworks, which was held on summer evenings from 1977 through 1996.
In 1997 a decision was made to discontinue the concerts in order to focus on one event, and to enable members to complete their volunteer work prior to summer. Each year since then, a spectacular May Gala has been held at a private estate and includes cocktails, dinner, dancing and both silent and live auctions. This event has become the Unit's primary fundraiser.
Today, our membership has 56 Active Members, 4 Supporting, 25 Life Active and 78 Life Supporting Members who enjoy the same spirit and tradition as those first 35 charter members... a commitment to support and sustain excellent health care for all children in the greater San Diego community.
